Should You Be Game For A Free Satellite Dish?

The seemingly endless flow of TV subscription offers from various providers can sometimes overwhelm potential customers like you and I. Free satellite dish sounds like a good deal but do you need it, will you be able to take full advantage of it?

Better still to take a step back from being easily enticed by shopping around, asking the right questions, and reading the fine print before you seal any deals. Why pay for and be tied up with items others want to sell but necessarily the things you need to buy?

Before you can even think about evaluating free satellite dish offers, you need to know which is the best way for you to receive TV channels in the first place. Make sure you do full research before you sign any deals, as you don't want to find something better only a week after you have signed up to a service on a long term contract. The first step you need to take is to find out exactly what is on offer in your area, from both satellite and cable suppliers.

It may be in your case that one specific way of receiving TV channels will be better than others anyway. If you are in a communal building, it may not be possible for you to get planning permission for a satellite dish to be erected, and don't forget that outdoor satellite dishes are always vulnerable to theft or damage, not to mention the possibility of them being knocked out of alignment and needing to be reset. There is hardly any equipment outside the property when you have a cable installation, so there is far less risk of damage.

A satellite TV installation can give you more choices, but for this to happen you would need to have a specialist installation carried out using a motorized dish or one with a dual arm. A motorized dish can be moved to point at a wide range of satellites, and will work as long as the signal is strong enough. A dual arm system stays static, but it can pick up signals from two different satellites at once. Obviously, these specialist installations are not for the average consumer, and they certainly aren't available as a free satellite dish.

If you decide that satellite TV is the best option for you, then make sure you compare all of the packages which are available to you, and make sure that all of your expenses are counted. There is no point in saving money by having a free satellite dish when your monthly contract is priced so much higher than it would have been with a competitor. Think also about the range of channels you will need, as there are usually many options available. Once you know what you are looking for, you can see whether it will pay you to take advantage of the offer of a free satellite dish.
